I’ve been doing this hairstyle for a little while now and I just love how simple it is.  I get so many compliments when I wear this hairstyle out and it’s nothing even that fancy.  A french braid into a messy bun!  So give it a try, you’ll love it I promise!

  1. I am impressed. I don’t think Ive met anyone who knows as much about this subject as you do. You are truly well informed and very intelligent. You wrote something that people could understand and made the subject intriguing for everyone. Really, great blog you have got here.

  2. We have a wide range of experience in all aspects of residential Plumbing improvement work. It provide the full range of handyman services like Replacing taps, sinks, baths and toilets etc. Our Plumber London business is one of them, i hope you like it.

  3. My 5 year old went to a birthday party at Pigtails and Crewcuts and they did this style with her hair but they cut from ribbon and pinned in into the messy bun. I can’t french braid, but I braid long sections of her hair and replicate this style on her all the time. It looks amazing on you!

  4. First, THANK YOU! I’m not sure why but I have NEVER been able to do a french braid on myself. Oh sure a regular big one, but never a headband type like this. My sister is a hair stylist and for 24 years has been trying to teach me how to do this… after watching your video… TA-DA I can do it. It still needs a little practice but I wore this hair style twice last week and got SO many compliments.

I have been growing out my hair for awhile and I feel so boring wearing it down all the time. Love your 30 days challenge and your entire blog!

  5. Hey Abby I’m a follower from Brooklyn and today its 114 with the heat index ICK!!!!! As much as I’d like to just stay in and stand in front of the air conditioner, it is a friends birthday so we are going out. I knew I needed to do something cute with my hair so I turned to your site and did this. It looks so cute but it will be off my neck and keep me cool. Thank you so much for doing this! You are a life saver! I can’t wait to buy the ebook!! Thanks again for showing us your super cute hair styles!

  6. i think this video is my fave. i’ve been watching all of these today trying to learn some new tricks for this mop of hair of mine! i’m excited to try some of these things. anyway, i think this video is hilarious, and this hairstyle is one of my faves 🙂

  7. Hi Abby! I just wanted you to know how much I really enjoyed your 30 days of hairstyles. You are just adorable, girl! Have you ever done any modeling? 🙂 You have so inspired me to try more styles with me, that I’m sharing your month of ‘do with my girlfriend who is my stylist. She’s going to love all of your ideas! 🙂 And just to let those gals know out there who don’t have beautiful long hair like you…..if you purchase one of those real hair (don’t get the faux hair!)clip on extensions from Jessica Simpson’s friend (Kevin….?), they can do all the hairstyles that you’ve shown this month! I love my “piece”, as I call it (lol!) and wear it all the time while I’m waiting for my hair to grow back long again.

Sorry for the rambling message! lol! Anyway, bless you for sharing your creativity with us, and I’m your newest happy follower! Keep those styles coming! ♥

  8. Hi! I just found your blog and am loving your hair tutorials. My hair is the longest it’s been in 15 years and I’m lucky if I go a day without putting it in a messy ponytail. You’ve given me some great ideas! Thanks so much! And…I love your blog! 🙂

  9. Lovin’ your blog Abby; makes me wish my hair was longer again. I didn’t know the inside out braid was called a Dutch braid. I used to be able to do it on others, but not myself. I think the other comment is right, you need to use a different side of your brain for that one, and my brain doesn’t want to go there, lol. You are such a success with this. Keep up the good work!!!

  10. Thanks so much for voting guys! Dianne, thanks for the baby powder tip! I don’t know if you read one of the comment threads but I use my makeup powder… baby powder would be SO much better!! And yes, I have been to princesshairstyles- it’s ahmazing!! Apparently I need to check out the video tutorials though! Maybe the dutch braid isn’t completely hopeless afterall!

  11. I really like this hair-do. Its fun and still can be used for work, since it is still a little formal. I really like that.
And since i am completely lost when it comes to my hair, i love your blog for giving me ideas what i could do, instead of just doing it up in a ponytail.
    Thank you 🙂

  12. I love your hair style videos! I love french braids too, but I’m not that good at them. Each time I watch one of your videos though, I practice and they are slowly getting better! Keep the hairstyles and videos coming!

  13. This is so pretty Abby! I am so amazed that you can do this awesome challenge. I might do a mini 15 day thing for short hair styles and give you all the credit and link to you. Is that ok?! So girlie when are we going to hang out?

Also I just wanted to let you know I awarded you the versatile blog award. Congratulations! To accept just go and check out what you have to do here

  14. We just found your blog and really LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your video tutorials!! My daugther, Abby (9) also loves seeing what you’ve done! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge, you make it look so easy!

  15. Hey, it’s Dianne again! Have you seen the website princesshairstyles.com? It’s mostly for little girls, but there is a messy bun tutorial on there that is also really great. Also, a trick I use to keep my hair dry between washings is baby powder. I just sprinkle a tiny bit into my hands and then run my hands through my hair. The baby powder absorbs some of the oil from my scalp, and it makes my hair feel thicker. If I use baby powder every few days, I only need to wash my hair about once a week! You should totally give it a try! It also leaves my hair smelling fresher, and I like the smell of baby powder. I think it might work better for blondes (I am a blonde) since the powder might show more on someone with dark hair, but if you are a blonde, then the powder blends better. Have a great day! Also, I voted for your photo on Facebook! I hope you win!

  16. I voted yesterday for you! Love the hairstyles and tutorials! I’ve been trying to get more creative and have spent some time on another blog (although it’s aimed more at little girls) learning the basics. Now I have to go figure out what a Dutch braid is! I finally have the french and an inside out braid figured out though!

  17. You know, most of the time people don’t take the time to comment or “vote” for someone in a contest that they don’t know – but I just voted for your picture because I thought, “what a nice way to ‘repay’ someone for posting something that you can really benefit from.”

Sorry for that really long run-on sentence. I am a 45 year old woman with hair just past my shoulders. My husband really likes it long and I am trying very hard to keep it that way without looking like an old person. A friend pointed me to your blog and I have been so tickled to try the new hairstyles. Thanks for taking the time to post them and the videos!

  18. Jenna, that’s funny you say it’d only last a day and you’d be running to the salon cause that’s exactly how I feel only with short hair! I have wanted to cut it so many times and each time I have to stop myself cause I know I’d freak out if it were short!! And Stacey, I hope these have helped!! Ya jsut gotta practice!! And MEL [my sister]! SHUT UP! Did you really? I don’t believe you! But I always knew you’d figure out a way to make that little girl darling. Did the tutorial help?

  19. It’s funny you said you can’t do a dutch french braid because I can ONLY do a dutch braid, and not a regular braid on myself. It must be one of those things where your brain can either do one or the other but not both! I’m a new follower of your blog and I LOVE your hair videos! I think I’ve watched them all now. I’m looking forward to the rest! Some of your styles reallyyy make me want to grow my hair out longer, but knowing me it would be long for exactly one day then I’d be rushing to the salon. I just can’t stand it any longer than a couple inches below my shoulders. Boo.
