Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Ok.  I lied.  These aren't Texas Roadhouse Rolls.  They're my great-great grandma's rolls. But they totally rival Texas Roadhouse Rolls. THEY ARE SO GOOD. This recipe is so versatile. We use it for rolls, bread, cinnamon rolls, pizza dough blah blah. It works for everything!  Takes five minutes to throw in your bread maker, 2 hours of bread maker magic, 10 minutes to roll up and 15 minutes to cook. That really equals 15 minutes of you needing to be in the kitchen!  Who doesn't love that right?!

I'm having serious issues with blogger so sorry if the layout is a little... off!

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/3 sugar
  • 1 egg (break up yolk)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 Tbs yeast

Directions:
  • Add all the ingredients- in order- to your bread maker and set to dough setting!
  • Roll into balls in a muffin tin
  • Bake at 370 for 10-ish minutes or until golden brown
Add 1 1/2 cups milk to bread maker

Then add 1/4 cup melted butter

Next, add in your 1/3 cup sugar

Break up the yolk of one egg and add it to bread maker

Add 1 tsp salt

Add 4 cups flour
And finally, add 1 Tbs yeast
Now that you've added all your ingredients, set your bread maker settings to DOUGH

And when it's finished with its bread maker magic, it should look like this:

TIME TO ROLL AND BAKE!

This is how we roll ours.

You've got to spread some flour out on your table and just put the dough you get from your bread maker right on top of it.

Now take a chunk of dough and place your thumbs in the middle of the chunk- like so

Now fold it in and repeat

Eventually it'll start looking like a nice round little ball.  If you've noticed, roll dough doesn't roll like cookie dough!

Forgive the photographer!

Place 3 balls in one muffin cup

Put them in the oven and when they come out they should be so delicious!  These ones look a little funny because my cute nieces rolled the last batch and I forgot to take pictures of the first batch- of course!

ENJOY!

All about face shapes

Which face shape do you have?  If you don't know, go stand in front of the mirror with a bar of soap, lipstick or a dry erase marker.  Outline your face and stand back.  What do you see?
  • Round
  • Long
  • Oval
  • Heart/Diamond
  • Square
It's important we know what face shape we have because the wrong hair cut can add pounds to our face. We want to pick out our best features and highlight them. It's all about focusing and enhancing those beautiful characteristics we have and hiding the not so great ones! Anyone can be absolutely beautiful. I'm not kidding you when I say this. Have you seen celebs without their makeup?

If you're struggling to find the beautiful you, there are a few things you should focus on:

1) finding a flattering hairstyle/haircut that will enhance your naturally beautiful characteristics
2) highlighting your positive features with makeup AND hiding your not so great ones with makeup
3) taking care of your body and dressing appropriately for your body type

If you aren't already following those three rules- start. You'll be amazed at the difference you see in your outward beauty. And when you start feeling like your beautiful, you'll start acting like your beautiful.

Okay- WHOA. Huge tangent there. Back to face shapes and haircuts!

  • Heart/Diamond: If you have a heart/diamond face shape, try drawing attention to your eyes with side swept bangs.  Keep the hair below the jaw line and go for layers that graze your cheekbones.  Avoid short blunt bangs and choppy layers.  Celebs who share your face shape include: Reece Witherspoon, Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez and Rachel Bilson.  Photo Gallery

  • Oval: Congrats you ovals.  You've got the most versatile face shape.  Acctresses with oval face shapes include: Jennifer Anniston, Rhianna, Keira Knightly and Halle Berry.  Photo Gallery  With this face shape try highlighting some your other great features.  If you've got great eyes, try cutting bangs.  If you have great bone structure try a short angular bob that shows off your chin!

  • Round: Shoulder-length or longer is a great hair length for a round face. Your face needs to have enough hair around it to create lines that draw attention away from the round edges of the face.  Avoid chin length bobs and parting down the middle.  Acctresses with round face shapes include: Kirsten Dunst, Ginnifer Goodwin and Drewberry Moore. Photo Gallery

  • Long: Those with long face shapes should try adding some width to their do.  Such as blunt bangs, and chin length bobs.  You just want to be careful to not add more length that will drag your face down.  If you have long hair with a long face- chop some bangs!  Acctresses with round face shapes include: Tyra Banks, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ashlee Simpson and Jennifer Love Hewitt.  Photo Gallery

  • Square: You square faces will want to down play your strong angular jaw.  Light layers will soften your face shape along with curls and a side part.  Avoid blunt bangs and one length bobs.  Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and Demi Moore share your face shape. Photo Gallery

As you can see each face shape is beautiful.  It's all about highlighting your great features and hiding your flaws.  And everyone- EVERYONE- has flaws.  Or at least things that don't need all of the attention!

So ladies, what face shape are you and what are you going to do to highlight your great features?

Be inspired

Every now and then we need to be inspired.  Inspired to be better.  Inspired to be better neighbors, friends, wives, sisters and mothers.  We need to be reminded to make time for service and to have charity.  It is so easy to get caught up in your own life.  In your own struggles and trials, in your own day to day business.  Especially at this busy time of year!  This video helped me step outside myself and recognize how completely lucky and blessed I am.

Our Savior, whose humble birth we celebrate at this Christmas season, came to earth and dedicated His whole life to serving others.  Elder Cuthbert said, "Service changes people. It refines, purifies, gives a finer perspective, and brings out the best in each one of us. It gets us looking outward instead of inward. It prompts us to consider others’ needs ahead of our own. Righteous service is the expression of true charity, such as the Savior showed".

Let us remember to step outside ourselves and our own lives and serve.  In the Improvement Era 1995, it was said, "We look with such longing to you on the earth who have the powers within your hands to exalt; with what jealousy we watch the hours of your days slip through your fingers in unimportant tasks that neither save nor exalt".

Sorry this post is a little "churchy" but I felt it was appropriate with Christmas right around the corner.  And Christmas time is the season where despite our best efforts, we become so busy with buying presents and checking off our to-do lists, that we forget what the holiday is really about.  It's about our Savior.  And what better way to honor him than to serve his brothers and sisters.  Let us not let hours slip through our fingers in unimportant tasks!!

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope the holiday season brings you closer to your families and loved ones!

And you said beets were gross!

I found this great lip stain idea over at Team EcoEtsy

You need 2 Tbs Olive Oil, 1 Tbs honey and 1 beet.  She's got step by step picture instructions over at her site if you want to make it, but you basically mix up all the ingredients in a food processor and then strain the solid mixture into a jar.

One of the comments on her site suggested you pour the mixture into some ice cube trays and freeze it so none of it goes to waste.

I definitely won't be purging my make up bag of all it's wonderfully "toxic" ingredients.  Because well, I love my make up.  No matter how "toxic" people might say it is.  I do love the idea of this stain though because other lip stains you can buy at the store dry the crap out of your lips!  This natural concoction would seem to be nourishing and hydrating.  Plus it's pretty!  I am so trying this.  After the holidays!  Wish me luck!

The gift that keeps on giving

This has been my FAVORITE kitchen product of 2011 and if you're looking for an inexpensive gift, this is it.

It's called the Vidalia Chop Wizard.

Ha, the lady in this video is an AWFUL actress but just look what it can do.

I've had this chop wizard for a few months now and I'm absolutely in love with it.  It literally takes me minutes to dice and cube all the vegetables and potatoes that go into a soup.  I don't have to make Brian cut my onions for me anymore because I can now cut them so fast with the chop wizard that it's all over before my eyes start burning!  And let me say, I'm a great with my knife.  My momma taught me how to chop when I was little and I'm wicked fast.  But this is so much faster.  Plus all the veggies come out the same size, which looks so wrong at first!

So there ya have it.  My favorite kitchen product of 2011.  MUST HAVE.
