The Strider bike has allowed him to learn and practice correct coordination for when he’ll get a real bike. He’s learning to balance without that fear of falling because when he looses his balance, he simply puts his feet down.
Seriously, ditch the trikes and training wheels.
We bought our Strider Bike in December for $69.99 on Amazon but they usually sell for $90-$100.
Best purchase we’ve ever made. I would spend ten times that if I had to. Boston has entertained himself on that bike all over our house for hours and hours and hours. I can’t wait for the summer so he can start riding more outside!

If you have a little toddler, try the Strider bike. You’ll be glad you did!
One thing you can do… is take the pedals off a traditional bike (Just use a wrench and unscrew them from the ‘arm’) and they can do the same thing, (use their feet to walk, balance/ride) Then when they are ready, put the pedals bake on the bike and they can pedal away.
I love it I just got my 2 1/5 yr old girl the fisher price skates and shes loving them! I can’t wait to get a bike like this for her though… on a side note the mountains in the backround are beautiful where is this? lol I live in VA Beach so everything is flat here no scenery until you drive to the beach … 🙂
Groupon.com has the original strider bike right now for $49. Definately worth the money!
love these bikes (ours is a “specalized” brand) My first child was riding his real bike before he turned 3 NO training wheels. One of our best purchases ever!
omg how adorable!! that picture with him riding his bike & the beautiful mountain in the back is a beautiful shot! thanks for sharing!!

He is so dang cute!
We are Strider lovers here too! We got a Strider for my oldest son a little over a year ago. He was 3 1/2 at the time and was riding a regular bike without training wheels 2 1/2 months after getting the Strider.
Our younger son started riding the Strider when he was 2 and does awesome on it, going over jumps and gets going super fast (he pretty much keeps up with all the neighborhood kids on their bikes). He’ll be 3 this summer and I’m thinking he’ll be ready to “graduate” to a pedal bike by summer’s end.
I loved the videos – your son is so cute!
That’s awesome! I just posted a question on FB asking friends what they suggested for my 20month old daughter. I had seen the striders and was sure I’d get one instead of training wheels, but thought I’d have to wait until she was older and was going to get a trike first. You might have changed my mind! Thanks for the post!
my son started walking around with his at 18 mo. We love these kind of bikes.
I have mixed feelings on the Strider Bikes. My nephew had one and zipped all over, the only problem was, he had a tough time learning how to pedal. He switched over at three and a half and still had training wheels for a bit. My son never had training wheels and learned how to ride a pedal bike when he was two. We had a cool little bar called a “balance buddy” that we would hold on to when we would go on walks. Now my second son turned two in November, and he can almost pedal his bike on his own. The Strider bikes are great fun though!
My daughter just got a push bike like this from my parents. she isn’t quite tall enough to use it yet (she is only 2.5 yrs old) but she is excited to use it and I think it is a brilliant idea for teaching kids how to ride a bike.
