Some Design Ideas

I just bought two of these pillows.
I got them from World Market for $19.99

If you follow me on facebook you might remember how I was looking into making a few pillows out of the Schumacher HotHouse fabric?

Oh it’s so beautiful.  Then I found out it is $120 per yard.  Yes you read that right.  120 DOLLARS PER YAAAAAARD.  WHAT?!  I had no idea fabric could be so expensive.

And then my dreams were crushed.  For $20 bucks though, these world market pillows will fill the void of my beloved Hot House pillows I wanted so badly!  It was a sad sad day.

Here’s a little look into what I’m doing for my family room:

And here is my favorite couch we stole from the RC Willey clearance section.  It’s beautiful.  And not white.  I’m not crazy- I have two kids!  It’s a light grey microfiber.  The pillows are reversible so I figure we’ll just mess up one side and when we own a home I’ll turn the pillows over and put them in the formal living room.  Ha ha at least that’s my plan!

I want to throw some orange and hot pink in there but I’m just not sure on the patterns yet.  I’ll have to see what type of fabric I can get on clearance.
I also am going to make these.  Because they are amazing.  And I love them.

A little photo collage above the couch with maybe a hot pink spray painted S in the middle and the room is almost done.  HA if only!

I’d love to know your thoughts. Any ideas for me?  I’ve been getting most of my ideas from the 6th street design school blog.  If you’ve never been there don’t start now.  It’s as time consuming as Pinterest!  I love her and her designs!  I can’t wait to finally have a space of my own.  We are on like the tightest budget ever but I refuse to live in a mess.  It’s my job to make our house feel like a home and by adding just a few things hopefully I’ll be able to do that!

  1. If you are going to make your own pillow covers I would buy material from fabric.com. I recently made my first purchase on their site and I love the fabric! I found mine in the home decor section and they were on clearance for $7 originally $15 a yard. Check out my blog post if you wanna see the fabric I picked one is very similar to the pink and white one you like, just gray and white. https://sewfabulous-now.blogspot.com/2012/04/fabriccom.html
Good luck! I love those curtains BTW!

  2. Love it all!!! What an awesome find with the pillows, I had to look back and forth like twenty times to make sure they weren’t the same fabric! Hahah! Alright…heading over to vote now! Have fun, my dear!

  3. I get most of my inspiration from pinterest. I’ve seen some more than awesome ideas there. When it comes to pillows I’d go to charity shops and get one of a kind ones, within the same colour family. So it’d be cheap and awesome and unique!
p.s. I voted for you. Best of luck!
