Is this shirt not to DIE for?  The detail is so amazing!  I’m wearing a medium but I could have worn a small too, I don’t think I even tried it on.  For 20% off your entire purchase at Recycled Consign & Design use the code “twistmepretty”.

A couple days ago I received a terrible review on Amazon for my first hairstyle book.  I’ve had bad reviews before and it’s no big deal, I like a good honest review like the next person.  This one though felt more like an attack on me as a person and less on the actual book.  I wanted to throw my phone against the wall and just cry.  Then I read it again.  And for some reason I started to feel less sorry for myself and more sorry for the women who had taken time out of her day to be so negative and cruel.  I know who I am, what I am and who I represent and it was silly of me to get so frustrated with someone who doesn’t even know me.  But honestly, some people you guys!

It is so important that you believe in yourself.  Acknowledgement from others is beautiful.  It’s motivating and inspiring and sometimes it means the world.  But at the end of the day you’re the one that needs to be okay with the things you’ve done, the lives you’ve touched and the people you’ve either uplifted — or not.  Don’t let the mean girls of the world strip you of your confidence.  Don’t let other people tell you what to think, what to wear, or even how to style your hair.  You are beautiful just the way you are.  “Don’t be like the rest of them, Darling”.  Believe in yourself because then, then no one can touch you.  No one can tell you you’re fat or too skinny or too tall or that your smile is too big.  No one can defeat you because you believe in yourself, you’re strong and you know exactly who you are.  I would hope that we can all use our lives, our words and actions for good.  To inspire, to help, to motivate, to encourage and to uplift.  Heaven knows this life is hard enough.

Thank you so much for your kind comments and sweet friendships.  I feel like I have thousands of people around the world giving me huge giant hugs and I feel so lucky to be a part of your lives.

  1. I read the comment. And I just had to respond. . I know this post was a bit ago. It definitely was an attack at you. She probably was jealous, and when people get jealous they tend to say mean things to try to make themselves feel better. You have such a cute personality and are so pretty, so it would be easy to be jealous! 🙂 so take her comment as a compliment 🙂

  2. Glad you’re not letting that comment get to you. I love your blog and your hairstyle book. Curiosity took me to Amazon to read the rudeness, and I had to reply to her comment. 🙂 Hopefully a little positive response will let her know that while she’s entitled to her opinion, most (nice) people do not agree!

  3. Oh my gosh, I LOVE how you styled the shirt! The statement necklace is perfection. It was so fun having you in the shop and I’m excited to see how you style the other clothes!!

  4. With comments – take off the best 5% of the comments and the worst 5%, and believe what the remaining natural curve of comments tells you. A good sample and a good idea of what you are doing right and what you might want to change. Keep up the great job!

I love your site and your new hairstyle looks fresh. Hoping to see some styles on other hair types as we are not all blessed with thick gorgeous hair.

  5. Aw, why is it that we can hear 1000 compliments but somehow can only focus in on one criticism? You have a great attitude, Abby, and while I haven’t read your book, I visit TWP all the time for hairstyles. Thanks for what you do!

  6. Wow I’m literally crying right now! Thank you for all that you do for Twist Me Pretty. You’re so beautiful and are such a wonderful mother. Your testimony strengthens mine and your clothes are fashionable and are always modest. I totally look up to you so so much! 🙂

  7. Absolutely loved this Abby! sometimes its really hard to be yourself when everyone wants you to be someone else. Society screams at women to embrace their natural beauty and be themselves. And then once they try, they see the other the women society throws at them. The models. And once they see them, they get scared and end up adapting to what ever other people want them to be. SO thanks for this, I needed it.
