A Random Act

Twist Me Pretty's Abby does a random act of kindness

Have you guys seen Random Acts?  It’s literally the cutest show I’ve ever seen.  It’s whimsical and heartwarming, just one of those feel good shows that make you smile.  Random  Acts is the opposite of Punk’d… instead of mean and silly pranks, it’s random acts of kindness to those in need, or to random strangers on the streets.  It’s one of those feel-good shows, one that makes you laugh and cry.  One that inspires you to be better, to be a little kinder, and a little sweeter to everyone you meet.  I think the world needs more feel-good shows that bring light and love to the world.  Most of you know I had the sweetest experience of making a very impossible dream come true for the most deserving and beautiful human I’ve ever met.  You can watch the full episode HERE, or click through to the end of this post!!

Random Acts is wrapping up their first season on Monday, June 6th and it’s gonna be a good one.  Pop some popcorn, make some treats with the little ones, and tune in!  Oh, and you might want to get some tissues ready…

Meet Shelby.  An extremely talented violinist who was forced to give up her dream of playing with the Orchestra at Temple Square because her debilitating illness took a turn for the worse.  When the team over at Random Acts found out about Shelby, they took matters into their own hands and decided to help.  They mastermind a plan to surprise her with the performance of a lifetime.

My job was to do her hair and makeup before the show.  She wasn’t used to wearing a lot of makeup, so I picked some very neutral colors for the eyes, did a soft pink blush, and a little bit of lipgloss.  I did two dutch braids tied together in the back, and gave her a few loose curls.  I wanted her to feel like herself, but just extra special for her big debut performance.

The show whizzes by with other vignettes of pleasant pranks in addition to the main story line. There was a LOT going on behind the scenes!

My girls — Brittany from The House That Lars Built and Leanne from Elle Apparel.  I had a blast working with these talented ladies and couldn’t have been surrounded by better company.

After a full day of rehearsal, we finally had the chance to put our skills to the test.  And Shelby was a dream.  She was so grateful, so humbled by the experience, and I’m so grateful I got to meet her and be a part of her special day.
