Halo Couture Extensions

This post is REALLY old!  These are the extensions I use now.  I liked the halo’s for when I wore all my hair down and wanted a ton of hair but they weren’t super versatile.  I prefer clip-ins now because I can use all the hair or just a few wefts.  Check out my new post here.

You need one huh?

Holy moly these Halo Couture Extensions are incredible.  They blend amazing and as you can see, they are sooooo easy to put in.  There are no clips to fiddle with and you never have to worry that your extensions are showing.  The halo extensions are held on by a lightweight clear wire around the crown of you head.  Simply place it on top of your head so that it sits right under your occipital bone.  Then you’ll pull out your hair over the top of the wire, and in an instant, you have beautifully long and full hair.  Because there are no clips, glue or bonding involved, the halo couture extensions are 100% damage free.

I love how super fast and easy they are to put in.  I also love the volume on these suckers.  I was given the 24″ halo and ended up cutting a few inches off.  I would definitely recommend buying the 20″.  Mine are still super long and I’ll probably be trimming off another inch or so in the next little bit.  I love how nicely they blend.  You cannot tell that I’m wearing extensions.  I bought the Jessica Simpson/Ken Paves extensions for my wedding.  Absolutely hated them.  They clipped in and I always felt like they were showing and I remember feeling so self conscious people could tell I was wearing fake hair!  Because they stressed me out and took forever to put in, I never wore them.  Worst investment.  But because the halo blends so well and there are no clips involved, you never have to worry that people can see that line where the weft is.  The extensions are made from the finest human hair available so you can straighten them, curl them and even wash them.

  1. Please Help! I recently got a halo because my tape hair extensions were damaging my hair. I watched all the how to videos and placed the halo an inch and a half away from my hairline. Within three hours it creeps back about 2 more inches. Does this mean the fitting is too small or too big?

  2. Hi there,

Do you have to be a stylist or salon owner to purchase Halo Couture? I’ve had tape in extensions for over 2 years. I’m a bit worried they may be damaging my hair and debating giving my hair a break. However, I can’t give up the long hair look. I definitely want to try the original halo now after reading this review.

    Thanks,
    Catherine

  3. i feel the same about the wire. i’ve tried adjusting the wire and i’ve also tried placing further back on my head…doesn’t work. the wire actually creates a pretty deep indention into my head. i’m worried that with time, this could cause unhealthy issues to the top of my head, and the hair growing in that area. not to mention, it’s quite uncomfortable at times; causing pretty bad headaches. does anyone have any advice? and by advice i mean suggestions that i haven’t already tried not mentioned above??

    1. Get 10 lb. fishing wire and loosen the wire. Your wire is too tight. I have a large head and run into these issues frequently. 🙂

      1. Do u mean loosen it by hooking it in a knotch further back….bc I’ve done that and it then becomes way too loose on the crown of my head and moves around.

        1. I had this same problem so I took just a small strip of the sticky part of a bandaid and wrapped it just around a small section right in the middle of the wire where it sat on my head like a pressure point and now it does not get sore at all… u cannot see the lil piece either because my hair covers it…

  4. I have been wearing extensions for 20 years now. I am blonde and have to do the roots every 3 weeks. What a pain in the ass it is to color with the extensions. So I decided to try the hidden crown. I matched my color and my hair looks beautiful. However, as mentioned in some comments, the top of my head where the “hidden wire” is placed, is very sensitive after about an hour of wear. I have tried repositioning it farther back, but then the weft is irritating the nape of my neck. It is not supposed to fit that way. So, after a week of wearing every day, I am praying that my scalp gets used to this because I can not go without it. My own hair has deteriorated because of 20 years of extensions, and I need time to get back some health of my hair. It feels so nice to sleep without extra weight on my head!! As far as quality of the product- I would give it an A. Now all I need is to not be aware I am wearing it.

  5. I absolutely love the way my Hidden Crown Extensions LOOK, but they are very painful. The wire does cause redness and irritation. It has caused my scalp to bleed on places. I was going to sew a couple clips on the back balance some of the weight. Also, they do not work with short hair. They advertise it will work with short hair, but I had to wait until my hair grew out. They company has terrible customer service. They haven’t offered to address my questions. Hope this helps!

  6. Hi, I purchased mine yesterday and only managed to wear them for 3 hours. They do not feel secure at all and I can not certainly flick my hair around like they do in the halocouture ad! They do look amazing I must say and the quality is very good. Does anyone have any suggestions how to keep the halo in more securely?

    1. Hey girl! This Halo Post is really old and I had the same problem. I ended up switching to Laced Hair Extensions, you can find all that info in my style gallery.

  7. Yes they hurt me but I’m sensitive to headbands too. I have been trying to answer some of the questions about being comfortable all day and the site keeps saying that it looks like I’ve already answered that question. I have worn mine about 5 times since last week, and you you’re right. Even the 12 inch dig in a bit on top and the band with the hair in back is not comfortable after 2 hrs. I’m hoping I’ll get used to them. I actually feel more comfortable with my previous clip in ones. They hurt the first week but since each waft is light weight, they didn’t feel like they were pulliing my head downwards. This is about 100 grams all on one band. If anyone has any suggestions to take the weight off, I would appreciate because the are beautiful and so easy to put on and take off.

  8. I was wondering about the quality of these, i was diagnosed with alopecia and i was hoping to have more hair for prom, id probably wear them to school, do they hurt your head? do they last a long time? do they stay in well? can you style them?

    1. Maddi, I’m having the same problem! i have alopecia and can no longer wear my clip ins because it irritates my scalp and pulls my hair out, i want to try halo as they look safer. Have you found anything that helps?

    1. I can definitely wear them all day if I’m only wearing one or two of the small wefts, you can’t even tell they’re in! And yes you can wear a high ponytail, you just want to make sure you’ve covered the wefts!

      1. You’re talking about the laced hair ones right? The halos you cannot wear in a ponytail and because there is so much hair with the halos after a couple hours my head was hurting. It wasn’t so much because of the wire though.

  9. Thanks you for reviewing this… I am really interested in buying this for some events oversees but am worries sick about the wire breaking in the middle of an event. Since I’ll be oversees I cant really get it fixed right away.. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks

    1. I’ve worn them in a ponytail but you do have to spend some time smoothing out the hair so none of the wefts show. I found it was easier to put my hair in a high ponytail and then add the single wefts to make my top knot bigger

  10. It seems like they would be so easy to pull right off your head! Did you have problems with that? I have a toddler and one on the way (you can relate to the mini-hair-pulling people, right?) and I just invision the entire weft being thrown on the ground in the middle of a resturant like a toy. It looks gorgeous though!

    1. Aaahahahah, mini hair pulling people! That’s hilarious and so true, those little stinkers!! Actually I haven’t had a problem. I mean, yeah they do pull on it but unless they are lifting up there’s no way that sucker is coming off. I feel like clips would be worse because when you tug on clips they can loosen. When they tug on the halo it’s just securing it more onto your scalp. If that makes sense!

  11. I’m not 100% sure how expensive to 20″ ones are, but they’re somewhere around $400. I know that’s pretty pricey but it’s amazing hair and will last you forever. It looks so real and I’ve worn them a bunch and the hair doesn’t matt or dull. Plus if you’re gonna get extensions put in you’re looking to spend a pretty penny on something that will only last a few months!

  12. How much do these cost? I love this idea but after spending so much on other extensions, I would like to know the cost before going out and getting fitted and investing.

    1. I don’t want to bash halo couture by any means but it was not what i expected, I saw videos and pictures of people who loved them. I did my research on this company before i spend $350-400 on them, i planned to wear these everyday and i did the exact opposite. The first day i ever wore them and every other day after that when i wore them i had the worst headaches known to mankind the wire doesn’t always fit everyone comfortably i tried re sizing re positioning and they just don’t work for me. I am beyond disappointing honestly and have wasted like i said $350-400, I have had them for about 6 months and wore them maybe 6 times. I have now ordered clip ins and i will never use extensions that are with “miracle wire” ever again, not to mention the indention it left on my head because of how heavy it was… ridiculous. They have wonderful customer service so i will give them that as well as color is beautiful as well as the hair itself is fabulous.

      1. this may sound funny… but you can buy clips at Sally’s and sew clips onto your Halo Hair Extensions. You can even take them off the wire, cut them into pieces and use them for high pony tails, or additions into a braid.. or chunk them up to use for a partial updo. They are machine wefted, so they can be “disassembled”. Might as well use the beautiful remy hair that you spent 100’s on instead of letting them collect dust. Your welcome!

  13. Oooooo I have been eyeing these and wanting them so bad!!! Guess it’s time to save up some cash. They are comfortable and stay in nice condition? I don’t want to jump in some fad….I did that with those Jessica Simpson extensions and those got so matted and yucky right away. I was unimpressed. They didn’t look all that natural either.

    1. The first time I had them in, I wore them alllll day. By the end of the day the little wire up top was buggin a little bit but honestly I didn’t feel them most of the day!

    2. I have worn mine about 5 times since last week, and you you’re right. Even the 12 inch dig in a bit on top and the band with the hair in back is not comfortable after 2 hrs. 1. Sue, my suggestion is to do what I did. Make your extensions into a halo/ clip-on hybrid. Just sew a couple of clips in the middle of the weft to help support the weight. Actually, I did the opposite: took my clip-ins and attached a wire to make them halo 🙂 Hopefully, this helps.

      2. Hi I bought he halo couture from a representative of the company at the end of July by October they were looking dry and horrible I tried one treatments and it seemed to work for a short time. I spent 3 hours brushing out them after my daughter wore them for the night. What a mess. I’ve bought extensions prior from dirty look and the hair is amazing with no quality problems. The halo concept is easy and fantastic. Has anyone had issues with theirs

          1. This post is super old and I’ve since started using different extensions. Checkout my style gallery and you can find my new favorites!
