Alright folks. This week we’re doing a couple of styles that build upon each other. So first things first.
You’ve got to know how to create beach waves and add texture to your hair! There are a couple of different techniques but I have found this one to work consistently. These waves make a great base. And by that I mean you would start certain styles with this type of texture in your hair. In your quest to get the perfect hairstyle, it’s important that you start with the right base. This wave works for any type of updo, side braid, any messy bun or top knot. Basically this texture adds crazy volume and helps your styles stick and stay in place. Make sense? Okay. Let’s get started!
Directions
>>> Step 1- Start with some heat protectant/de-frizzer/shine product. It’s absolutely essential. And then you’re going to rat/tease your roots
>>> Step 2- Depending on how thick your hair is, you’re going to pull half of it up and clip it on top of your heard. Then you’re going to take a chunk of hair (I usually do three chunks per section), twist it and straighten it. Just move the straightener up and down the twist until the entire twist is warm. Make sure not to twist all the way to the ends. You’ll want to just straighten the last inch or two.
Note- The larger chunks of hair you twist, the larger your waves will be. I used larger chunks of hair in this hairstyle here.
>>> Step 3- Now take the end of the twist, wrap it up and clip it near your scalp. I’m using duckbill clips. I use them when I don’t want a crease or line in my hair. I got mine on Amazon!
>>> Step 4- Continue twisting and straightening
>>> Step 5- Once you’ve clipped all your hair up you’re going to let it sit for a minute. Or 15. However many minutes you have! I let mine sit for as long as it takes me to put on my make up and get dressed 🙂
>>> Step 6- Unclip your clips
>>> Step 7- Gently untangle the curls with your fingers
>>> Step 8- This could possibly be the most important step. You’ll want to spray dry shampoo all over. Dry shampoo doesn’t only soak up oil but it adds texture to your hair. If you have fine hair, dry shampoo will be your best friend. Boston has the finest baby hair ever and in the mornings I spray his hair with dry shampoo before I gel it. It just makes the hair dirtier. Helps it to hold style longer. After you’ve sprayed your hair with the dry shampoo, you’re going to spray some beach in a bottle spray all over it. Not too much. Just enough for it to dirty up your hair and give you that texture we’re looking for!
Does that seem like a lot of steps? Ha ha! High maintenance? I swear, it’s not. I don’t spend more than 15 minutes on my hair. Ever. You can cut down on bathroom time by curling or texturizing your hair the day before you plan on wearing it up or in a braid or whatever.

I just tried this today and my hair came out SUPER crimpy! Next time I am going to try to twirl bigger sections to achieve this look but it doesn’t look bad and it is definitely textured! 🙂
Yeah if it comes out too crimpy you need to twirl larger sections. If you compare these beachy waves to the post a couple days ago you can see a huge difference!! I prefer the larger twirls!

I love the idea!!!! My problem isn’t about time.. it is about buying the products :/ What are the names of the products so I can look into them? I have suuuper clean, soft, and fine hair and need A LOT of texture.
