Alright folks. Here’s the scoop. These Ikea picture ledges are fab. Except they don’t hold a ton of weight. I know this because they fell off Boston’s wall four times. One. Two. Three. Four. I thought Brian was going to kill someone! So our fix? We added brackets. “What! You found white brackets”? Ha, no. That’d be awesome. To make those ugly intrusive eye sores disappear I put some white electrical tape over the top of them. Yup. Because I’m awesome. Actually I just had some lyin’ around.
After tape:
Isn’t that just magical? HA!
I think his name adds a nice little touch. I made these back before he was born with some cheap hobby lobby cardboard letters and mod podge.
In case you’re wondering, I used command strips to adhere the ledge onto the bracket. I didn’t want to drill into my ledge because one day I might actually use it for pictures! So you snap the strips together
Your wall might look something like this. AH! If my landlord is reading this I swear we’ll clean up all those holes!
Cute right?! For $30? Totally worth it.
This is a brilliant idea. It looks so classy!
Such a great idea!! I love it, I have been trying to think of a cheap way to make bookshelves for my son. Thanks for the idea!
