The Squishiest Play Dough Recipe

I got my Bachelor’s Degree from SUU in Early Childhood Development.  When I graduated I taught at the Head Start in Ogden and we used this recipe aaaalllllll the time.  It is by far the most squishiest play dough recipe!  It’s my total favorite.  I’ve heard you can replace the food coloring with two packs of Kool-Aid to get in your color and make it smell super yummy but I never have Kool-Aid handy so I’ve never tried it.  And there’s a run on sentence if I’ve ever seen one!
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 Tbs vegetable oil
food coloring
Put all the ingredients in a pot and give them a good stir.  Put your pot over medium heat and stir constantly until it starts sticking together and forms a ball.

He’s my big helper.  Making the “pay dough” is almost as much fun as playing with it!

This is when I removed mine from the heat.  Take the play dough out and put some water in your pot and the cleanup will be a breeze.

I used the Wilton food coloring gel.  If you use food coloring drops you can put them in before you heat it all up.  The Neon colors look awesome!

We love playing with “pay dough” around here.  He asks for it nearly every morning.  That little painters bib is a must.  I got mine from Ikea.  If you don’t have an Ikea you can order them from Amazon here.  We like to add glitter and other textures like sprinkles and oatmeal to the dough.  While he’s playing with his “pay dough” I usually read him some stories we’ve picked up at the library and have a little lesson.  Like I said, I taught preschool.  I can’t help myself!

Enjoy!
