Fun and Simple Pull-Through

I’m so excited to show this super fun and simple pull-through pony tail with Demi! To get started I grabbed 6 – 10 clear elastics, a rat tail comb, a spray bottle and a little hairspray, as well as my favorite Twist Me Pretty hair scarf for a gorgeous finishing touch!

How to Do a Simple Pull-Through Pony Tail

Step 1 – Start with a few Pony Tails

To begin I create a succession of pony tails. The sections I made here are about an inch to an inch and a half thick. In this simple tutorial I’ve made 5 pony tails, but feel free to do your sections as big or as small as you like!

I use my fingers to grab each section and then I’ll clean it up with a rat tail comb- if there are bubbles you can do a quick spray of water to smooth those out and then tie the section off with a clear elastic.

Step 2 – Time to split the pony tail!

Now for the fun part! Take the top pony tail and split it in half. Grab the pony tail right below and pull it forward. Pro tip- have your daughter hold this second pony tail in place! If you are doing this fun style on yourself, just grab an extra clip to keep it in place.

Step 3 – Wrap Around

Take the top pony that you split in half and wrap it around the pony tail below it, then add the sections into the third pony tail down.

Step 4 – Repeat

Then repeat! The top pony tail gets split in half, it goes around the pony tail below it, then add the sections into the third pony tail down.

Step 5 – Stretch and Fluff

As you move down be sure to stretch and fluff each section! Use your fingers to pinch the pieces of the pony tail and stretch them out. This is going to make it look super big, full, and fluffy- so fun and simple, which I love!

Step 6 – Finish it off

When you get to the bottom you can continue the pattern or end with a messy bun! To clean up the look, if you see parts of the scalp showing just sweep hair over and hairspray in place.
