With 4 littles at home, I’ve been busy coming up with ideas to keep them busy during this break! Today I thought I’d share with you one of our favorite indoor activities to make. PLAYDOUGH!
I have my traditional homemade playdough recipe on my blog, but thought it would be fun to share a lemon version for Spring. It’s so simple to make and I bet you already have the ingredients in your pantry.
Lemon Playdough Ingredients
First things first. Gather your supplies to make sure you have everything on hand.
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup salt
- 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 2 cups lukewarm water
- 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works too)
- Yellow food coloring
- Lemon essential oils (optional)
How to make lemon playdough
In a pot stir together the flour, salt and cream of tartar. Then add the water, oil, 10 drops of essential oils and food coloring. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Once the mixture has thickened, remove from heat and onto the counter or wax paper. Allow to cool and then knead until smooth.
Once itโs all mixed together get out your rolling pins, cookie cutters and get ready to PLAY.
Store the play dough inside a covered container or zip top bags once done to keep soft. Keeps for up to 3 months.
