No Makeup, No Bra, No Shower

Twist Me Pretty's Abby wears glasses and a blue dress on her children's first day of school in a new town.Today, I dropped my babies off at their first day of school in a new town.  This is their second (out of three) schools they’ll be attending this year — breaks my heart to be uprooting them every couple of months.  But it’s really out of my hands and they’re amazing kids so I know everything will be ok.  It’s such a bitter sweet moment walking away from them, though.  Will they make friends?  Will they be scared?  Will they be behind in class?  Will the teacher be kind?  I worry about them, as mothers do.  I’ve not been able to stop thinking about them and in just a few minutes I get to meet them outside and help them off the bus!!  Boston and Savy ride the same bus home. It’s kind of amazing being in a small little town where literally everyone knows your name!  I told Boston he’d need to sit by Savy on the bus, help her feel safe and brave.  He told me, “Mom, don’t you worry.  I’ll take care of her”.  And I know he will.  I also know that out of anyone, Savy won’t need any rescuing.  I guarantee she’ll come off that bus with fifty new friends that adore her.  She’s just like that.

The thing about children is while they create most of the stress, they also have a beautiful way of pulling you out of it.  Your life isn’t just about you anymore… serving them, finding ways to make them happy, teaching them, praying for them, and being their person is the biggest blessing.

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes: “Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful, it means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life” – Lisa Weedn.  And now I have all the feels!!

Oh, and in case you were wondering… this is my current situation!  No makeup, no bra, no shower, still hungry and need lunch.  Have dealt with 17,876 twin tantrums, Boston cried for 20 minutes before school because he wanted to wear shorts and it’s currently a blizzard outside, #worstmomever, and it took Savy over an hour to pick out her outfit.  Mmk, just wanted you to know.  #keepinitreal2017 #yourewelcome

Keeping it real 2017. No make-up look. Twist Me Pretty

  1. This gave me all the feels:

So beautifully said! Thank you 🙂 I have four children too and the stress they can bring on is unbelievable! But as you’ve said, they really do pull you out of it.

  2. I’m worried this will come off as rude, I don’t mean it that way at all. Why are the kids switching schools 3 times? I know once for the move from Ohio to Utah.
Also, LOVE that coat and that price tag.

    1. No not a thing all!! So we are in delta while we close on our home in Orem. We won’t close until the middle end of February so we decided to put the kids in school for a couple months here. Then when we move to Orem, (more details soon!) we will put them in the school there from march-may. It’s sad ? But the kids love school and are insisting on going or id just do home school for a minute. My social little butterfly’s!
