Pirate Makeup + Hair Tutorial | Halloween Costumes

Ahoy, there me hearties!  Welcome to the ultimate pirate costume, complete with makeup tutorial, bouncy curl how-to and of course the classy Halloween costume!  After a couple of pretty intense tutorials, I thought it’d be fun to mix it up and share my take on a classic favorite.  What do you think?!  It’s definitely a fun eye look and one that can be worn throughout the rest of the year with a few slight tweaks!

Kroger challenged me to create this entire look using drug store products — easy peasy!  I wanted to share my favorites with you because the Beauty Event at Kroger Stores starts TODAY!  It’s spend $15 and save $5 on participating beauty products!  I’ll be almost all the items in the beauty isle so just look for the shelf tags but it’ll run from today the 18th to Tuesday the 31st.  It’s the perfect time to stock up on every day basics and products you’ve had your eye on!  Run to Smith’s or whatever Kroger store is in your neck of the woods cause you won’t wanna miss it!!  Also a huge shout out to my girl Kayti from The Beyouty Bureau who always recommends and introduces me to the best products and helped me come up with this eye look!!

My favorite drug store products for the skin!

First up is the Revlon Photo Ready Perfecting Primer which goes on like butter!!!  It does a really great job diffusing pores, hydrating the skin and just setting a great base for foundation.  Next up is the L’Oréal Infallible Pro Glow foundation in the shade nude beige.  It’s full coverage which I like because my skin has just been a mess lately and it wears well all day!  Then we’ve got our under eye concealer, the Instant Age Rewind from Maybelline is amazing.  A lot of drug store concealers just aren’t pigmented enough or they settle into the creases under the eye.  Not this baby.  You’ll love it!

My favorite drug store products to highlight and contour!

The Master Contour by Maybelline is an awesome little stick, the contour is on one side and the highlight is on the other.  I don’t usually bother with the highlight side, but the contour is the perfect shade to add dimension back into the skin.  It goes on smoothly and buffs easily.  Then I like to highlight with the Master Strobing Stick by Maybelline.  This stuff is pigmented!  I like to just dab it onto my fingers and pat it onto the skin, it’s so pretty and wears well!  Then I like to use the Master Contour palette, these are powders are the formulas are really nice.  There’s a contour, a blush and a highlight!  I always like to go over my creams with powders, it just takes an extra second but I feel like it really finished off the look.

And then to set everything, my favorite powder is the Maybelline Fit Me Set and Smooth powder in the shade Porcelain.  There’s a translucent shade but I like the 110 cause it gives just a tiny bit of color too!

And finally, my favorite drug store products for the eyes!

I like to fill in my brows with the Brow Stylist Shape and Fill by L’Oréal, I have the dark brown color.  Then I love the Revlon photo ready eye primer and brightener to prime the lids.  You can apply this directly onto the lid or you can put it on a brush and apply it that way!!  I love the Maybelline Nudes palette!  I have the rock nudes and the original nudes, both are so pretty!  Those lighter colors you’ll want to apply wet, they’ll have better color payout that way!  And then the rocket express mascara from Maybelline is bomb.

Step by steps:

1// Priming with the Revlon Photo Ready Perfecting Primer and then using the L’Oréal Infallible Pro Glow in the shade nude beige.

2// Concealing under the eyes with the Instant Age Rewind from Maybelline, contouring with the Master Contour stick, and then highlighting with the Master Strobing Stick by Maybelline

3// Next I’m going in with the Master Contour palette and then setting it all with the Maybelline Fit Me Set and Smooth powder in the shade Porcelain.

4//  Filling in the brows with the Brow Stylist Shape and Fill by L’Oréal and then for the lips I’m using the Infallible Pro Matte Liquid Lipstick, color Nudist.

5//  Finally onto the eyes!!  I’m starting with the Revlon Photo Ready Eye Primer and Brightener and then using the L’Oréal Infallible Eyeliner in Carbon Black to draw the outline of the shape on our eye.  Doing this is going to give us a great base to pack on and blend more color.

6//  Taking the matte black in the Rock Nudes Palette by Maybelline, I’m blending out the black and then smoking it out with the grey shade.

7//  Next I’m packing onto my eyelid the lightest color in the original Nudes Palette with a wet brush, and then continuing to blend blend blend!!

8// Finishing off the look with the Rocket Express Mascara from Maybelline and then adding some false Ardell Wispy lashes

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!  I’d love to know what you think about it in the comments!

This post was made in collaboration with Krogers but all thoughts and opinions are my own!

  3. Yes! Nice tutorial! An I love that you only used dupes! I cannot afford those expensive products at all, so I have to really find good and cheap products. So this was really helpful!
