Rolled Ponytail | Day 11

1 2 3

I’m such a sucker for cute ponytails.  I don’t know what it is about them but they just make me so happy!  Maybe it’s that they work when my hair needs to be washed, or maybe it’s because my curls can be a messy and crazy or maybe it’s because I just don’t have time for anything else.  So when I find a cute ponytail it’s like all is right in the world!  I experimented with this style tied up in a messy bun afterwards and I LOVED it!  Definitely give it a try if you can’t salvage the curls or your straight hair is too messy to save.

I must warn you- one of my lamps gave out and the lighting is pretty poor on the video.  I cannot wait for the day when we own a home with a million windows and so much natural light it feels like we’re living outside.  The fact of the matter is I film at night when the kiddos are asleep.  And even if I did it during the day we live in a basement with zero natural light… so yeah, there’s that.  Feel bad for me okay?  It’s a sad thing.  You basement dwellers know what I’m talking about!  Or those of you who live in Washington.  hehe

Step-by-step Instructions:

  1. This is a style that’s perfect for leftover curls– no need to use heat on your hair!  Begin by taking a section of hair above your ear and start twisting towards your face.  Pin as you go.  I’m actually using roller pins, they’re extra large bobby pins and I only needed to use two for this entire style.
  2. Continue twisting until you’ve gathered all your hair off your neck
  3. At this point all your hair should be draped over one shoulder.  Tie all the hair except for a small section in the front into a ponytail using a clear elastic
  4. Take that small section we left out and wrap it around the elastic.
  5. Use a baby topsytail to secure the hair in place (refer to video).  If you don’t have a topsytail go ahead and use a bobby pin

  1. i have never been able to braid or style my own hair and your videos and blog posts are so encouraging!

In many of your comments you say all bobby pins are not created equal. I am looking at dally and there are so many different kinds. Which brand/type do you recommend?

  2. A side pony tail is way out of my normal comfort zone, but I decided to give it a try and I am so glad that I did. I was afraid that my hair was too short and the pony would look silly, but I ended up loving it! Thank you!

  3. This hairstyle seems easy peasy lemon squeezey and I’m sure I could do it on myself. All your hairstyles are amazing but is there a way do make your hair a bit….. puffy with out using hairspray.curlers straightness?
