Let’s find out more about eating for results!

Hey girl,
Are you constantly being bombarded with the latest nutrition trends telling you to “eat clean” everywhere you turn?  You might start off strong and say to yourself “I’m going to cut out all sugar, processed foods, and diary”, but after a while you end up hungry and tired and binge on the entire oreo package and finish it off with a milkshake.
As a personal trainer and fitness nutrition specialist for over 11 years I have seen this cycle over and over again.  Yes, it’s great to eat whole foods that nourish your body and keep you feeling energized… but too much of any food will still make you gain weight.

How about those carbs?

Carbs are carbs… it doesn’t matter if it’s quinoa, or bread.  Carbs and fat are sources of energy, if you are eating an excess it will still store as fat.  This is why tracking your macros is so important.  You can still eat your carbs and fats but it helps you to see a healthy balance.  For example, one tbsp of Olive Oil is 14g of fat.  That’s a lot in one serving and most people cannot even taste it… thats why you need to be aware of what you are eating and how it can add up.

What are macros?!

Macros are your essential nutrients (Carbs, Fats, Proteins) that your body needs in order to function.  So when you track them and know your numbers you are are able to manipulate your results according to your goals.  This is where you will be able to see results. You need to eat a certain percentage of carbs, fat and proteins in order to build lean muscle and burn fat.

80/20 Rule for Eating Clean

The best rule of thumb is to follow an 80/20 Rule when it comes to eating.  Try to eat clean 80 percent of the time and if you want to fit in your favorite treat 20 percent of the time that’s great.  As long as you stay within your macro numbers you are good.  If you need help calculating your numbers I would hire a coach who has a back ground and nutrition certification.
I’m happy to help if you have any questions!
