How To: Tablecloth Curtains

Hi Twist Me Pretty readers, I am Whitney. ย The girl behind the blog
I’d like to say I have a lifestyle blog because it isn’t just about one thing
I talk about my family, about being a mom, about life,
crafting, tutorials, decorating, recipes, fashion and whatever else I feel like blogging
about at the time
I would like to think my blog is just me, its about what I like
to create and share
I am married to my very best friend coming up on 5 years this month
We met down at SUU, became best friends and the rest is history ๐Ÿ™‚
We have a beautiful little 2 year old boy named Maddux
He is such a sweetheart and I couldn’t imagine my life or day without him
We are also expecting our second little man, Holden, this month
I am due in 2.5 weeks so he should be here anytime
and we are just so excited for our two little ones to meet
and to snuggle both of them all day long ๐Ÿ™‚
I have known Abby since High School and we also went to the same College
Sometimes I wonder why we aren’t best friends
Probably because we just need to hang out and we will be ๐Ÿ™‚
She is super cute and I feel honored to know her
and that she asked me to do a guest post
Today I am going to share with you how I made
Thrifty curtains out of A table Cloth
I have been on the hunt for some curtains for sometime now
We have lived in our basement apartment for about 2 years now and
I just finally was able to get some up
I just wasn’t finding the right color at the right price
You see my husband is in Law school so we are on a bit of a budget
so I wasn’t going to be spending $40 plus each on curtains for
two windows in my living room
I was at Target one day and found the perfect solution to my problem
of both money and color
I found a long table cloth that I knew just what to do with and
the best part it was only $10.99
so I was able to get two sets of curtains for my two windows for only $22
I was so excited
I got the 60 in by 84 inch because I wanted them long
and I wanted them wide enough that I could cut them in half to make
two panels out of
First things first I took it out of the package laid it flat on the floor
And Measured the half way mark
Then I just started to cut
Luckily there was a nice crease to follow right where I wanted to cut
Now my one table cloth is two panels
Next I just needed to hem the edge that I cut
The rest of the edges were already finished
So I folded it over a half inch then folded it again
and pinned down the whole thing
Sewed a straight stitch along the new hem line
And tada! The edge I cut it all hemmed and looks like curtains
Then I did this to the other half that I cut
and again repeated the whole thing with my other table cloth for
the second window
Literally it look 45 min maybe start to finish
Next I ironed each panel and they were ready to be hung
I already had two curtain rods that matched and would be perfect
Yay for using stuff you already have ๐Ÿ™‚
I got these rings at Walmart to attach the panels to the rod
I loved the look of the rings
you could also sew an open hem at the top and put it through the
curtain rod that way but I liked this look
so I spent a little extra and got some rings
I used 5 rings on each panel
and they slide open and closed so easily
Window #1
And Window #2
See the color was perfect it matches my pillows
We recently just took everything off of our walls
and painted the whole basement apartment a light grey
so we are now in the process of putting stuff back up on the walls and re decorating
so make sure to come and visit my blog for some more fun
decor ideas as we go ๐Ÿ™‚
Can you see the frames peaking in this picture
That is a sneak peak of my new gallery wall I just finished
I am so excited about it and LOVE it
It will be up on the blog very soon
so get excited
Also a lot more DIY ideas and pillows coming soon
